Thursday 26th November, 10:30 – 12:00, via Zoom, Free event
In this 90 minute online workshop, led by artist Gael Hillyard, we will reveal some of the incredible details found around the interior and exterior of Wasps’ Inverness Creative Academy.
We start by looking at some of the photographs taken before and during the restoration of the building and learn a little about the building’s history and design. After this overview, you will use observation techniques to discover some of the ‘language’ of architectural details, and tips to help make architectural sketching effortless and fun.
You can then follow along, from the comfort of your home, as we draw some of the details around the building, including decorative elements, geometric forms, and a perspective study. During this beginners session we’ll look at how your sketches can observe architectural details and develop a modern twist on classical forms.
We end by looking at tips on sketching in public, what to take with you, and how to set up.
Suitable for beginners, aged 12 and over. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the Zoom meeting. After the workshop you will be given access to a dedicated webpage which will cover some of the elements of architecture, and perspective drawing.
Basic materials you’ll need to take part:

- black fine line pen or marker
- coloured markers, ink or watercolours
